Frequently asked questions about fees and payment
What are your fees?
My fee is $220 per therapeutic hour. I currently accept e-transfers or credit card, but no debit at this time.
In the event of late cancellation (less than 48 hrs. in advance) or no show (failure to attend a scheduled appointment), a charge of $100.00 will be applied. If this is a recurring problem, I may decide to begin charging the full fee of $220 for these cases. This does not apply to emergency situations.
Where can you provide services?
Thanks to technology, I am able to provide services in many places. I am able to do sessions by video (also called telepsychology) to people residing in Alberta, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Nunavut. This is particularly helpful for people living in rural or isolated locations, or in search of specialized services not available in their area.
Additionally, as I obtained my Psychologist degree from Universidad de Chile as well, I am able to provide online counselling to clients living in Chile.
I am able to see people in-person in the Edmonton area, although I only schedule in-person sessions occasionally.
Will my insurance cover your services?
Although most insurers and benefit providers will cover services provided by a registered psychologist, your plan may not. It may also set limits per session and/or year. I encourage you to check your plan coverage before booking with me.
If you live in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, or Nunavut, you may need to check if your provider sets limitations for professional’s location.
Can you direct bill?
I can direct bill to Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP, ARTA, Canada Life, Green Shield Canada, Medavie Blue Cross, and possibly others. Some providers, like Sunlife and Manulife, don’t allow psychologists to direct bill. If I am not allowed to direct bill for you, and your plan covers services by psychologists, then you may need to pay for my services in full and then make a claim to your provider to get that money reimbursed.
If you’re planning to use your benefits to pay for my services, please let me know ahead of time as I will need extra information to direct bill to your provider.
Do you provide a sliding scale?
Yes; I have several spots on my caseload for clients requiring a reduced fee. Please contact me to inquire about my current ability to accommodate your needs.
